Alex McCulloch
Alex McCulloch has been employed by UPS for twenty-six years as the UPS International Dangerous Goods Manager. His responsibilities include the development of procedures, training and oversight for the worldwide safe transport of dangerous goods by air, road, rail and sea. He also represents his sector of industry through the Global Express Association (GEA) at the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel, ADR Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and at other national and international regulatory bodies. Alex is also an IATA Dangerous Goods Board Member. Prior to working for UPS, Alex worked for the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority for many years as Deputy Head of the Dangerous Goods Office. Married, with three children, he lives in London, U.K.
Stefan Sauerbier
Stefan Sauerbier started in Logistics January 1987 with UPS. Before he changed to dangerous goods in 1992 he was responsible for HR and Health & Safety in UPS Europe for their German Gateways, Austria and Switzerland.
Since October 2010 he is Senior Director Network Control Group of DHL Express Europe leading the Restricted Commodity Group. In this role he is responsible for the save transport of dangerous goods and live animals including development and maintaining of the appropriate procedures, training, approval processes and operational audits.
Beside that he is member of certain organisations representing DHL such as DSLV Federal Association for Forwarders and Logistics e.V - Commission for Dangerous Goods Logistics and Environmental Management; VDSI – German Federal Association for Safety Engineers; Chairman of European Group for Occupational Safety and Health (EAGOSH); Representative for DSLV in governmental workgroups for Aviation and Lithium Batteries; International Social and Security Association (ISSA) – Transportation Group; Observer with IATA Dangerous Goods Board, ICAO DGP – Advisor for the German Delegation.
Claude Chanson
Claude Chanson is General Manager of the Recharge association. He has an engineering degree from Bordeaux Graduate School of Chemistry and Physics and a PhD in electrochemistry from the University of Bordeaux 1. He joined the Saft Group in 1986 initially as an engineer in research and development and as project manager in the telecommunications and e-mobility sectors, before taking the posts of Division Technical Manager and Director for Li-ion technology. He has been with Recharge for six years, representing the rechargeable battery industry’s interests at European bodies and international transport organisations, such as UNECE and ICAO.
Andreas Vahl
Dr Andreas Vahl gained comprehensive experience on aircraft systems & safety as well as risk management in industry and research. Besides lecturing in ‘Reliability of Aircraft Systems’ at Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, he is the management director of SAREL Consult GmbH - an independent company dedicated to systems safety and reliability. Previous positions include managing director at Zentrum für Angewandte Luftfahrtforschung GmbH (ZAL), Head of Research & Technology Business Development at Airbus Operations GmbH as well as gaining valuable experience in ‘Product Integrity’ within the Safety & Reliability section of Airbus Deutschland GmbH.
